The Olympic and world triple jump champion Yulimar Rojas has long been without competition in her discipline and won the Diamond League trophy at the last tournament of the circuit in Zurich yesterday with 15.28m (-0.2 m/s). The world record holder has 15.47m this season, with which she won the world title in Eugene earlier in the season.
The European champion Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk again approached the 15-meter mark and with 14.96m (0.3 m/s) took the second position. World medalist Shanieka Ricketts (Jamaica) was third with 14.85m (1.0m/sec).
“I am very pleased to be able to end my season with a victory in the Diamond League. It wasn’t a good result, but I’m still happy considering the season was long and full of ups and downs. My goal for next year is to improve my form, both physically and in terms of technique. There are some details that need fine-tuning. I’m already thinking about the World Championships in Budapest”, said Yulimar Rojas after her victory.
Yulimar Rojas Rodríguez is a Venezuelan athlete who holds the world record for women’s triple jump, currently 15.74m.
