Yulimar Rojas smashed the competition at Silesia Diamond League winning the gold in the triple jump with the new world’s season-best

World and Olympic triple jump champion and world record holder Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela) improved her own world best for the season. The Venezuelan, who until now topped the planetary rankings for the summer with 15.16m, won the Silesia Diamond League in Poland with 15.18m (0.3m/sec). She registered this result in her last sixth attempt.

Yulimar Rojas’ achievement is also a new tournament record.

The 2022 Munich European Championships gold medalist and 2022 Belgrade World Athletics Indoor Championships silver medalist Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk (Ukraine) took the second position with 14.70m (0.3 m/s), and the Leyanis Perez Hernandez (Cuba) came third with 14.67m (0.5 m/s).

Another Cuban athlete Liadagmis Povea remained fourth with 14.62m (-0.3 m/s), while Shanieka Ricketts (Jamaica) was fifth with 14.56m (0.1 m/s).

Yulimar Rojas is a Venezuelan athlete who holds the world record for women’s triple jump, at 15.74m. She is the current Olympic champion, a three-time World Champion (2017 London, 2019 Doha and 2022 Eugene), and three-time World Indoor Champion (2016 Portland, 2018 Birmingham and 2022 Belgrade). Since 2014 she has held, and continued to beat, Venezuelan national records in triple jump and long jump.

The Ukrainian athlete Iryna Gerashchenko won the high jump gold at Silesia Diamond League in Poland. She won on countback from Nicola Olyslagers (Australia) and Yuliia Levchenko (Ukraine), all three of them clearing 1.98m. All shared the meet record, but achieved this high in the first attempt.
