Yulia Putintseva qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 Ningbo Open

Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan) qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 Ningbo Open after defeating Ella Seidel (Germany) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) in an hour and a half of play. The Kazakhstani tennis player scored the incredible 7 aces against only one for her opponent, while both players made 3 double faults each.

Yulia Putintseva started strongly the first set and took a lead by 3:0 with two breaks. Her opponent Ella Seidel succeeded to return one break immediately for 3:1, but Putintseva broke again and kept her comfortable advance to 4:1 and subsequently 5:1. The Kazakhstani player served for the set at 5:2, but gave a breakpoint at 30-40, which her opponent used the stayed in the set. In the ninth game of the set, Ella Seidel gave two break/set points to Yulia Putintseva at 15-40, but succeeded to save both of them. Although she gave one more break/set point to her opponent, at the end Ella Seidel won the game and reduced the score to 5:4. However, this time she succeeded to save them and closed the set after 51 minutes of play.

In the second set none of the players hurried to attack and was more precise on the first serve. Thus, the result was running equal without any breakpoints. Yulia Putintseva was first to reach and breakpoint in the ninth game at 15-40 and did not missed to score it. Thus, she took a lead at 5:4 and served for the match. This time the Kazakhstani tennis player did not made a mistake and won the gave “on 15” and also the set and the match.

In the quarter-finals, Yulia Putintseva will face the winner between the 5th-seeded Daria Kasatkina (Russia) and Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic).

In the other WTA 500 Ningbo Open matches from the day, Yue Yuan (China) eliminated the qualifier Ajla Tomljanovic (Australia) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) and Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) defeated the qualifier Olivia Gadecki (Australia) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:5).
