Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the high jump gold at the Lausanne Diamond League

World record holder and Olympic champion in the high jump Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine) achieved another Diamond League victory this season, but she failed to clear the 2-meter mark. The Ukrainian, who earlier in the summer jumped 210cm to improved the Stefka Kostadinova’s long-standing world record of 209cm, cleared just 199cm for first place in Lausanne Diamond League.

Yaroslava Mahuchikh cleared the 199cm on her first attempt, then missed 201cm and set the bar at 203cm, but failed in all three of her attempts at that height.

The Eugene 2022 world champion and Paris Games bronze medalist Eleanor Patterson (Australia) finished second at 196cm, while compatriot Nicola Olyslagers, who is Glasgow 2024 world indoor champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist, was third at 192cm.

In the women’s shot put, two-time world champion Chase Jackson, who failed to qualify for the final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, demonstrated excellent form and won the event with 20.64m. The Olympic champion from Paris, Yemisi Ogunleye (Germany) this time took second place with 19.55m, and third was the golden planetary indoor champion from this winter, Sarah Mitton (Canada) with 19.52m.
