Ukrainian high jump athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh will return to Nairobi for the first time since 2017, when she won the girls’ under-18 world title, being only 15 years old. Six years ago, Yaroslava Mahuchikh cleared 1.92m, equaling compatriot Irina Kovalenko’s 2003 championship record.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh will now return to Nairobi to start at the Kip Keino Classic on May 13. The Ukrainian athlete, who has two silver medals from outdoor world championships and the world indoor title, is the latest big name to confirm participation in the powerful tournament.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh is a Ukrainian high jumper. She was the Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medalist, 2019 and 2022 World Championships silver medalist, and 2022 World Indoor Championships gold medalist.
At the 2022 Brussels Diamond League, Yaroslava Mahuchikh jumped 2.05m, which is her outdoor personal best and a Ukrainian record. In 2021, she achieved her indoor personal best of 2.06m, which is also a national record.
