The South Korean golfer Yang Amy won the LPGA Tour’s season-ending CME Group Tour Championship at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, United States. The South Korean golfer finished the course at 27-under-par, three shots ahead of her main opponent in the course Nasa Hataoka (Japan), who finished with par 24-under-par. The third in the course remained Lee Alison (USA) with 24-under-par.
Yang Amy and Nasa Hataoka began the day in a tie at 21-under and although the Japanese golfer took advance in the beginning of the day, Yang Amy delivered one-two punch of birdies on holes 7, 8, and 10 to equalize her opponent. Just a couple of holes later, Yang Amy dunked her approach shot on the par-4 13th hole from approximately 80 yards to record an eagle 2 and move ahead of her opponent. Thus, the South Korean golfer won the course.
This is the fifth LPG Tour win for the South Korean golfer Yang Amy, who pockets 2 million USD out of the total course purse of 7 million USD.
“Nasa Hataoka is such a great player, and I was feeling really nervous. You know, I had no idea where this was going. All I could do was just stick to my game and trust it”, said Yang Amy, whose last tour victory came in 2019 at the Honda LPGA Thailand which she has won three times.
