Former 10km world record holder Yalemzerf Yehualaw (Ethiopia) will be chasing a place on the podium at the Amsterdam Marathon on October 20, 2024. The Ethiopian long-distance runner made her marathon debut in 2022 when she won the race in Hamburg in a new national record of 2:17:23 hours. Later that year she also won the London Marathon in 2:17:26 hours.
After her victory in London, 25-year-old Yalemzerf Yehualaw competed in three more marathons, but failed to win any of them.
“I want to give my best on Sunday. I come to win, of course. I look forward to the support of the Amsterdam public”, said the Ethiopian.
This year Yalemzerf Yehualaw came fifth in the London Marathon in 2:23:26 hours in April. The course record in Amsterdam is 2:17:20, which is the work of her compatriot Almaz Ayana.
