Women’s World Cup 2023 could be the last for the Brazil football legend Marta

Brazil football star Marta Vieira da Silva, better known as Marta, has returned from a lengthy injury treatment that lasted about a year, and her participation in this summer’s World Cup significantly improves the prospects for the Brazil team.

“It’s always great to be around Marta. She can help the team move forward in an incredible way. The way she has changed women’s football is something I really admire”, said Brazil national team coach Pia Sundhage.

To date, Marta has participated in five World Cups, and the 2023 World Cup may be the last for the striker.

“She changed the game. Her creativity and abilities are advancing soccer every moment”, said US women’s team coach Vlatko Andonovski.

Marta, 37, who plays for Orlando Pride in the NWSL, has 115 goals for the Selecao and is the team’s all-time leading goalscorer. The Brazilian has won the world’s number one award six times.
