Wilma Murto started the winter season with a personal indoor best and Finland’s national record

Wilma Murto, the European champion in the pole vault from Munich 2022, started her participation in the winter season with a good result. The 24-year-old Finnish athlete broke the national indoor record after claiming first place in Kuortane with 4.75m. She then made three unsuccessful attempts at 4.80m.

Her achievement is also the world No 1 result of the season, as well as her personal indoor best – she had 4.71m from 2016, which is still the under-20 girls indoor world record.

In the summer of 2022, Wilma Murto won the European title in Munich with a national outdoor record of 4.85m.

Wilma Murto is also a bronze medalist from the 2016 World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz and the 2017 European U20 Championships in Grosseto.
