Wilma Murto defended her European pole vault title in Istanbul

Wilma Murto, the European pole vault champion from Munich 2022, defended her title at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul. The Finnish athlete secured the gold medal with a new national record of 4.80m. She managed this height on the third attempt.

Tina Sutej (Slovenia) won the silver medal at the second European Indoor Championships after Torun 2021. She cleared 4.75m for second place. Amalie Svabikova (Czech Republic) fought for the bronze medal with 4.70m.

Wilma Murto is a Finnish pole vaulter. She won the gold medal at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich with a jump of 4.85m, equalling the championships record of defending champion Katerina Stefanidi and setting a new Finnish record. She holds current world under-20 record of 4.71 m and Finnish national records out and indoors.
