Wang Zheng (China) defended her title in the hammer throw at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. The Chinese athlete triumphed in the event with 71.53m, beating by more than two meters her compatriot Zhao Jie, who earned the silver with 69.44m.
The bronze in the hammer throw went to Taehui Kim (South Kkorea), who achieved 64.14m.
Ya-Chien Yu (Taipei) and Zarinakhon Nosirjonova (Uzbekistan) missed the medals, completing the Top 5.
Wang Zheng is a Chinese hammer thrower, who holds the Asian record in the event. She finished second at the 2017 World Championships as well as ninth at the 2006 World Junior Championships. She competed at the Beijing 2008 Olympics without reaching the final round, but won the silver medal in women’s hammer throw at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
In the women’s shot put, Gong Lijiao (China) earned the gold with 19.58m, while her compatriot Song Jiayuan remained with the silver with 18.92m. The bronze in the event went to Baliyan Kiran (Iran) with 17.36m.
