Viktoriya Tomova won the title of the $100,000 W100 Valencia

Viktoriya Tomova (Bulgaria) won the title of the $100,000 W100 Valencia (Spain) red-court tennis tournament. In the final, the Bulgarian tennis player defeated Jaqueline Cristian (Romania) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:3) in an hour and 43 minutes of play.

Viktoriya Tomova, 28, won her eighth career title and the third for 2023 after her victories at the WTA 125 Chicago Women’s Open and $80,000 W80 Zaragoza (Spain).

The final match at the $100,000 W100 Valencia (Spain), in which the second-seeded Viktoriya Tomova faced the third-seeded Jaqueline Cristian, offered the necessary emotions to the spectators, especially in the first set. In it, the Bulgarian led with 4:1 with two breaks, but allowed the Romanian to equalize at 5:5. However, this decline in the play of the Bulgarian turned out to be only momentary and she immediately managed to make a new breakthrough for 6:5, after which she won the first set.

In the second, the advantage of Viktoriya Tomova was much greater. She led the game 3:1 and calmly controlled the match, and at the end she even managed to make another break, with which she closed the match.

The win over Jaqueline Cristian capped off a great week for Viktoriya Tomova, who won all five of her matches in Valencia without dropping a set.
