In the final, the Bulgarian player defeated Teresa Martintsova, who is the world’s No 103, with 2-1 (4:6, 6:2, 6:3) and won the title in the Spanish city.

On her route to the final, Viktoriya Tomova defeated Lucia Cortez Llorca by 2-0 (6:4, 6:1), Ana Konjuh by 2-0 (6:4, 7:5), Irene Burillo Escorihuela by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4), and Leyre Romero Gormaz by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).

Viktoriya Tomova’s previous title of such a high rank was in 2019 in the French city of Biarritz. Now the Bulgarian tennis player made a great impression on the Spanish clay tournament, for which she will be rewarded with a rise in the world rankings.

Thanks to her great wins and the trophy, Viktoriya Tomova will climb 23 places in the WTA ranking and will be 75th in the world from next week. This, of course, is a personal best in her career, which will allow her to gain easier access to even more high-profile WTA tournaments.
