Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) and Elise Mertens (Belgium) dropped out in the first round of the WTA 1000 China Open with a prize pool of 8,127,389 USD.

Tatjana Maria (Germany) won her match over Martina Trevisan (Italy) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:6).

The Russian tennis player Anna Blinkova surprised the Croatian Donna Vekic, defeating her by 2-0 (6:3, 7:5). In the next round, she will face Jessica Pegula (USA).

The Russian-French tennis player Varvara Gracheva (France) defeated Anastasia Potapova (Russia) y 2-1 (6:2, 3:6, 6:1).

In another match of the day in Beijing, Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) also continues in the second round after defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) by 2-1 (1:6, 6:3, 6:4).
