Veronika Kudermetova lost at the start of the Roland Garros

The 11th-seeded Russian tennis player Veronika Kudermetova lost at the start of the Roland Garros to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (Slovakia) by 0-2 (3:6, 1:6) in a match that lasted 1:20 hours.

The Russian player made 4 double faults and 40 unforced errors in a match with total of 10 breaks. The first set started with exchanged of breaks with only two games in favor of Anna Karolina Schmiedlova being on her own serve. Only 52% of the first serve of Veronika Kudermetova was successful and she scored only 46% of the points at her first serve. On the second serve her stat was even worse. The second set started equally both winning their first serve game, but after that the Russian played suffered a break on 15 and lost the next 4 games.

Thus, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova qualified for the second round of the Roland Garros, where will face Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (Spain), who defeated Kristina Kucova (Slovakia) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1).

The 5th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) needed three sets to defeat her opponent Xiyu Wang (China) in the first round, but finally reached the success with 2-1 (7:6, 4:6, 6:4) in 2:41 hours. In the next round, she will face Anna Blinkova (Russia), who defeated Ysaline Bonaventure (Belgium) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:0).

The 14th-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) also started her participation at the French Open with a victory, defeating Tatjana Maria (Germany) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:1).

In other matches from the day, Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) defeated Viktoriya Tomova (Bulgaria) by 2-1 (6:1, 2:6, 6:1), while Anna-Lena Friedsam (Germany) eliminated Nao Hibino (Japan) after 2-1 (6:3, 3:6, 6:4) and Simona Waltert (Switzerland) won ehr match versus Elizabeth Mandlik (USA) by 2-1 (6:1, 4:6, 6:2).

The two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova is also out of the Roland Garros, losing to Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) by 0-2 (3:6, 4:6).

Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) advanced to the second round after winning her opening match versus Tereza Martincova (Czech Republic) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:5) and will face Peyton Stearns (USA), who defeated Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) by 2-0 (7:6, 6:2).
