Venus Williams received a wildcard for the US Open 2022

Venus Williams will return to the US Open after receiving a wild card. The American won the title in New York in 2000 and 2001, and exactly a quarter of a century ago she reached the final at Flushing Meadows.

Venus Williams, 42, was injured and did not play in last season’s US Open.

The American tennis player is a seven-time Grand Slam champion. In the summer, she returned to the court after almost a year’s absence.

The US Open 2022 will be the last official event for her sister Serena Williams, who plans to retire after it.
