Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas won the gold in women’s triple jump with a new world record

The two-time world champion in the triple jump indoors and outdoors, Yulimar Rojas, made a phenomenal competition and finally won the Olympic title in the triple jump, making it with a spectacular world record of 15.67 meters (+0.7 m/sec). The 25-year-old Venezuelan, who was a silver medalist in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, landed on this impressive footage in her latest attempt. The previous top result in the triple jump in the open was 15.50 meters of Inessa Kravets (Ukraine) from Gothenburg in 1995. Thus, Yulimar Rojas already holds the world records indoors and outdoors, after reaching 15.43 meters this winter.

Yulimar Rojas started the race with an Olympic record of 15.41 m (+1.1 m/sec) in her first attempt, and in the third, she jumped well above the world record, but the judges raised the red flag. She followed 15.25 m (+0.1 m/sec) in the fourth attempt, and the Venezuelan achieved an impressive 15.67 m in her last appearance in the sector.

The European champion from Amsterdam 2016 Patricia Mamona (Portugal) won the silver medal with a new national record of 15.01 meters (+1.0 m/sec).
