Valarie Allman versus Sandra Perkovic at the Diamond League in Oslo

Reigning Diamond Trophy winner Valarie Allman will face the long-time rival and six-time Diamond Trophy winner Sandra Perkovic in the discus throw at the Diamond League in Oslo on June 15.

American star Valarie Allman has dominated the sector for the past few years, recording her second diamond trophy in Zurich last year. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion won four of the five competitions in her discipline last season and is again a major favorite for this year’s title.

Sandra Perkovic won silver at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon last year, where Valarie Allman finished third. The Croatian also has fond memories of Oslo after recording success in the Diamond League last year.

Sandra Perkovic is among the most successful women in the history of the Diamond League, with New Zealand’s Valerie Adams, holding six titles between 2012 and 2017. If she wins her seventh Diamond Trophy in 2023 she will match the French showjumping star Renaud Lavillenie and the American in the triple jump athlete Christian Taylor, who have seven diamond trophies each.
