Valarie Allman defended her Olympic discus throw title in Paris

Valarie Allman (USA) defended her Olympic discus throw title in Paris and became only the fourth woman in history to do so in this event. The holder of silver and bronze from the world championships prevailed with 69.50m achieved in the fourth attempt. With each of her attempts, the 29-year-old American athlete would have been the champion here, after leading the second in the competition with almost two meters/

Feng Bin (China) won the silver medal with 67.5 m. With the same result, the two-time Olympic champion Sandra Elkasevic, who had a weaker second attempt than her Chinese rival, was third – 64.25m against 67.25m.

Marike Steinacker (Germany) is fourth with 65.37m and Vanessa Kamga (Sweden) is fifth with 65.05m.

Valarie Allman is an American track and field athlete specializing in the discus throw. She earned bronze at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, which made her the first American woman to win a world championship medal in the discus throw and later added a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships. She is the North American record holder for the event.
