Sochi 2014 Olympic snowboard champion Patrizia Kummer (Switzerland) will travel to China this week to begin a mandatory three-week quarantine for athletes who want to participate in the Beijing 2022 Olympics but have not been vaccinated against coronavirus.
Patrizia Kummer, 34, told that she had personal reasons not to get vaccinated, but that she “respected the rules of the authorities and the IOC”.
Patrizia Kummer won gold in the parallel giant slalom in Sochi in 2014. She met the national qualifying norm to participate in the Beijing 2022 Olympics from February 4 to 20, but there is still no guaranteed place in the Swiss team.
Chinese authorities have strict rules in the fight against the coronavirus for athletes and officials at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, which include a three-week quarantine for unvaccinated people.
Patrizia Kummer is a Swiss snowboarder. Kummer won silver in the parallel slalom at the 2013 FIS Snowboarding World Championships, and gold in the Parallel giant slalom at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
