Ukrainian athlete Mariya Siney

Mariya Siney is a Ukrainian athlete, who competes in the triple jump. She is a three-time national champion and has a personal best of 14.12m.

Mariya Siney was born on March 29, 1997, in Ukraine. She started in athletics as a kid and showed great skills and talent in the long jump and triple jump. She became a junior champion of different ages and proved to be one of the best athletes in the country.

Mariya Siney started her competitive career in 2012, competing at the Yalta Ukrainian Junior Championships in the triple jump, but finished only 12th. In the next season, however, she already earned the triple jump silver and the long jump bronze at the Zaporozhye Ukrainian U18 Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season she triumphed with the triple jump gold at the Yalta Ukrainian U18 Championships and silver at the Kharkov Ukrainian U18 Championships and Donetsk Ukrainian U18 Club Championships, but also competed at the Utrecht 12th European Youth Olympic Festival.

In 2014, Mariya Siney won another long jump medal, earning at the silver at the Kirovograd Ukrainian U18 Club Championships. Her bigger success was again in the triple jump, where she earned the bronze at the Zaporozhye Ukrainian U18 Indoor Championships and competed at Baku European Youth Olympic Trials.

Mariya Siney missed most of the 2015 season, but after returning to the track and field in 2016 she smashed the competition in the triple jump, winning the gold at the Kirovograd Ukrainian U20 Championships and Sumy Ukrainian U20 Indoor Championships, the silver at the Kyiv Regional Championships, and the bronze at the Minsk International Indoor U20 Match. She competed at the Bydgoszcz IAAF World U20 Championships but failed to reach the finals.

In 2017, Mariya Siney made her debut at a senior national championship in the triple jump, competing at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships, but failed to record a successful attempt. However, during the season, she earned the long jump silver at the Lutsk Ukrainian University Championships.

In 2018, Mariya Siney finished 8th at the prestigious Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships and 7th at the Stara Zagora Balkan Championships in the triple jump but earned silver at the Kyiv Club Championships and bronze at the Bakhmut Ukrainian U23 Championships.

Mariya Siney started the 2019 season with a tour to Australia, where smashed the competition in the triple jump at the Norma Croker Shield, Canberra Track Classic, Brisbane Garry Brown Shield, Brisbane Chilla Porter Shield, and SOPAC All-comers in Sydney, earning the gold in all of the meetings. She also competed at the Sydney Australian Championships but failed to earn an honor. Later, Mariya Siney earned the bronze at the Kropyvnytskiy Summer Universiade and took part in the Athletics Games in Copenhagen. During the Summer, she made an Asian Tour, competing at the HCMC Open Meet in Vietnam, where she earned the bronze, as well as the Tashkent Uzbek Athletics Open Cup and Arzumanov Memorial in Tashkent, winning the silver and gold, respectively.

In 2020, Mariya Siney won her first national title, triumphing with the triple jump gold at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships. Later during the season, she earned the bronze at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships, as well as the gold at the Lutsk Ukrainian Club Championships.

Mariya Siney earned her second national title in 2021, winning the triple jump gold at the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships, but also won the silver at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships. She competed also at the Istanbul Balkan Indoor Championships and Zagreb Memorial Borisa Hanzekovica but missed the medals for a while. However, she earned the triple jump gold at the Kyiv Athletics Festival and Kosice JBL Jump Fest, as well as the silver at the Sopot Janusz Sidło Memorial.

In 2022, Mariya Siney missed for a while a triple jump medal at the Craiova Balkan Championships, finishing 5th, but triumphed with the gold at the Boysen Memorial in Oslo and Sprinter und Springermeeting in Chemnitz, as well as the bronze at the Bergen Trond Mohn Games and Epinal Open de France.

In 2023, Mariya Siney earned her third national title and the first outdoor one at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships, setting a personal best of 14.12m. She earned the silver at the Kyiv Ukrainian Indoor Championships, as well as the gold at the Munich Ludwig-Jall-Sportfest, as well as the bronze at the Essen Tag der Uberflieger and Oslo Boysen Memorial. She competed at the Budapest World Athletics Championships but failed to qualify for the final.
