Two-time Olympic champion Jamie Anderson complains that the Beijing bubble affects her mental health

American snowboarder Jamie Anderson said that living in the “bubble” in Beijing was difficult for her mental health, making her feel “a little distracted” and “excited to go home”.

The American snowboarder, who won the slopestyle title in Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018, failed to qualify for the finals after dropping out of the Big Air qualifiers today after 15th place.

Jamie Anderson said the Beijing 2022 Games were exhausting for her and her teammates.

“We’ve been here for so long. I feel like the whole team is on the edge. I’m tired of the food, the nostalgia, the tension”, she said

Jamie Anderson, 31, arrived in China as a two-time Olympic champion in slopestyle and a silver medalist at the Big Air at the PyeongChang 2018. She finished ninth in the slopestyle last week, then wrote on Instagram that “she just can’t handle the pressure” and that her “mental health and sober thinking just aren’t up to par”.

The American added that she is not ready to retire from the sport, but she is not sure what will happen to her when it comes to snowboarding. She plans to take some time and drive freely, then she will see how she feels.
