Turkey qualified for the semifinals of European Women’s Volleyball Championship 2023

This year’s Volleyball Nations League winners from Turkey qualified for the semifinals of European Women’s Volleyball Championship 2023. The team smashed Poland by 3-0 (25:23, 25:22, 25:18) in a quarter-final match of the championship.

The Turkish volleyball players will play in the semifinals of the European Championship for the 4th time in a row and the 7th time in history. At the last continental championship in 2021, Turkey won the bronze medals.

In the semi-finals, Turkey will face the current champion Italy, who eliminated France in the quarter-finals also by 3-0. The semi-final match will be on Friday (September 1) in the Belgian capital Brussels.

On the other hand, Poland, for the second consecutive championship, remains outside the Top 4 and will finish in 5/8th place in the final standings.

Above all for Turkey was naturalized Cuban star Melissa Vargas with a terrific 24 points (2 aces and 56% attack efficiency) for the win. Ebrar Karakurt added 14 more points (2 blocks, 2 aces, 48% offensive efficiency and 31% positive reception) for the win.

For Poland, Agnieszka Kąkolewska (5 blocks! and 53% attack efficiency) and Magdalena Stysiak (2 blocks and 37% attack efficiency) finished with 13 and 12 points.
