Trinity Rodman signed with Washington Spirit the richest contract in the history of the National Women’s Soccer League. The extension with the 19-year-old daughter of NBA superstar Dennis Rodman is worth at least 1.1 million USD over four years.
The deal makes Trinity Rodman the league’s highest-paid player.
“We’re incredibly excited to have Trin as a part of the Spirit family for at least the next three seasons. She has a truly special career ahead of her and makes us a better club on all fronts”, said the coach of Washington Spirit, Kris Ward.
Trinity Rodman was the No 2 overall pick in the 2021 NWSL draft by Washington Spirit, which went on to win the league championship. She scored seven goals and had seven assists, and was named the league’s Rookie of the Year.
Prior to Washington Spirit, Trinity Rodman won four national championships in the Elite Clubs National League. She elected to play college soccer at Washington State but her freshman season was canceled due to the pandemic. Rodman decided to forgo the remainder of her collegiate career and declared for the NWSL draft.
The NWSL preseason began on February 1. The third annual Challenge Cup, a precursor to the 2022 regular season, will begin on March 19.
