The 4th-seeded Ons Jabeur lost to Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic) by 0-2 (6:7, 4:6) in 1:33 hours. The Tunisian player took an early lead of 3:0 after two breaks but lost the next 5 games. The set went into a tiebreak, which Marketa Vondrousova won by 7-5.
The second set started strongly for the Czech tennis player, who took a lead of 5:1 and despite missing 5 matchpoints, finally closed the set at 6:4 and qualified for the next round, where will face her compatriot Karolina Muchova.
The 8th-seeded Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina lost in the third round to her compatriot Varvara Gracheva by 0-2 (4:6, 4:6) in 1:40 hours.
The 22-year-old Varvara Gracheva is in very good form after last week reached her first WTA final at the WTA 250 ATX Open in Austin. In the Round of 16 at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open, she will face the 10th-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan).
