Top seeds Barbora Krejcikova and Jelena Ostapenko qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 250 Rothesay Birmingham Classic

The top-seeded Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 250 Rothesay Birmingham Classic after defeating her compatriot Linda Fruhvirtova by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2).

The 2021 French Open champion made one break in the first set and two more in the second set to close the match in 74 minutes, without giving any chance to her young and talented opponent.

In the semi-finals Barbora Krejcikova will face Lin Zhu (China), who eliminated Rebecca Marino (Canada) by 2-1 (4:6, 6:3, 6:2).

The second-seeded Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) defeated Magdalena Frech (Poland) by 2-1 (4:6, 7:5, 6:2) and also reached the semi-finals, where will face Anastasia Potapova (Russia), who eliminated Harriet Dart (Great Britain) by 2-1 (4:6, 6:3, 6:4).

The WTA 250 Rothesay Birmingham Classic has a prize pool of 259,303 USD. The reigning champion is Haddad Maia Beatriz (Brazil).
