The top-seeded Ons Jabeur had a successful start at the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir in Tunisia with a prize fund of 251,750 USD.

The world’s No 2 Tunisian tennis player defeated the American Ann Li with 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) in 74 minutes of play.

Ons Jabeur broke her rival’s serve in the first game, led by 5:1, and took the first set with 6:2. The situation did not change much in the second set either. The Tunisian tennis player dominated and with two more breaks reached success against the world’s No 63 Ann Li.

The fourth-seeded Petra Martic from Croatia also qualified after a victory over the Czech qualifier Linda Fruhvirtova with 2-0 (6:2, 7:5). The 6th-seeded Anastasia Potapova also advanced to the second round after a win over 15-years-old Russian Mirra Andreeva by 2-1 (6:3, 6:7, 6:3) in a match that lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes.

Another Russian tennis player continues in the second round. Evgeniya Rodina eliminated Elena-Gabriela Ruse (Romania) with 2-0 (6:1, 6:3), while Diane Parry (France) defeated another Frenchwoman Harmony Tan with 2-1 (6:4, 2:4, 6:1).

The British tennis player Harriet Dart eliminated Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (Spain) with 2-0 (6:2, 6:4) and also advanced to the second round.
