Top-seeded Magda Linette is out of the WTA 250 ATX Open

The top-seeded Magda Linette (Poland) was eliminated in the first round of the WTA 250 ATX Open in Austin, USA, with a prize pool of 259,303 USD. The Polish tennis player lost to Varvara Gracheva (Russia) with 2-1 (3:6, 6:4, 4:6) in 2:31 hours.

Magda Linette took a 2:0 lead in the third set before Varvara Gracheva made three breaks to reach the final success.

The Pole’s early exit followed that of second-seeded Zhang Shuai (China), who withdrew from the tournament due to illness.

The fifth-seeded Sloane Stephens (USA) had no such problems and advanced to the second round after a victory by 2-0 (6:3, 6:3) over compatriot Taylor Townsend.

The fourth-seeded Danielle Collins (USA) won against Magdalena Frech (Poland) by 2-1 (6:7, 6:2, 6:4) in 2:32 hours, while the third-seeded Anastasia Potapova (Russia) defeated Elizabeth Mandlik (USA) with 2-0 (6:2, 6:0).
