Top-seeded Caroline Garcia qualified for the second round in Monterrey

The top-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) qualified for the second round of the tennis tournament WTA 250 Abierto GNP Seguros in Monterrey (Mexico) with a prize fund of 259,303 USD. The French tennis player defeated Kaja Juvan (Clovenia) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).

In the next round, Caroline Garcia will face Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (Spain), who defeated Wang Xiyu (China) by 2-1 (7:6, 2:6, 6:4).

The third-seeded Donna Vekic (Croatia) qualified for the second round after her opponent Lesia Tsurenko retired in the second set at 2:6, 5:0.

The fourth-seeded Elise Mertens (Belgium) eliminated Diana Shnaider (Russia) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:4).

Camila Giorgi (ItaLY0, who won the title at the WTA 250 Merida Open Akron last week, was eliminated by Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse by 0-2 (4:6, 5:7).

Sixth-seeded Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic), who last week reached the semi-finals in Merida (Mexico), was eliminated by Kamilla Rakhimova (Russia) with 1-2 (6:7, 6:2, 6:7).
