Top female pole vaulters will compete at the Diamond League opener in Doha

Reigning Diamond League pole vault champion Nina Kennedy will try to defend her title in 2023, taking on Americans Kathryn Nageotte and Sandi Morris in the opening round in Doha on May 5.

The three pole vaulters were on the podium at last year’s World Championships in Oregon, with the American athletes taking the first and second positions – Katie Nageotte became the champion, Sandi Morris took her third world championships silver and Australian athlete Nina Kennedy won the bronze.

“I’m so excited for the outdoor season after a really fun indoor season. I have worked so hard in pre-season, especially on my strength, I hope to have a good start to the Diamond League campaign. To win in Doha in 2021 was a truly amazing way to start an unforgettable year, I hope to defend my world title this summer”, said Katie Nageotte.

Great Britain’s record holder Holly Bradshaw, Greek star Katerina Stefanidi, European indoor and outdoor champion Wilma Murto, Slovenia’s record holder Tina Sutej, Canadian record holder Alysha Newman and others will also start in the pole vault of the Diamond League in Doha.
