World record holder and 100m hurdles world champion Tobi Amusan is getting in better form just over a month before the start of the Budapest World Athletics Championships. The Nigerian athlete won the start of the Silesia Diamond League in Poland with a personal best for the season of 12.34 sec (0.9 m/sec). She thus equaled the tournament record of 12.34 sec held by Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (Puerto Rico) from last year.

The second place in Poland was taken by Kendra Harrison (USA) with an equal personal best for the season of 12.35 sec, and the Top 3 was completed by another American – Nia Ali with 12.38 sec.

The Jamaican athlete Megan Tapper and Danielle Williams remained outside the honors’ zone and finished fourth and fifth with 12.49 sec and 1.55 sec, respectively.

Oluwatobiloba Ayomide “Tobi” Amusan is the current World, Commonwealth and African champion in the 100m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in those three competitions. She became the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event when she won the 2022 World Championships 100m hurdles gold medal. She is also the current Diamond league champion in the 100m hurdles having won the final in 12.29 sec (-0.3m/s) winning back to back titles in 2022 and 2023.
