Tobi Amusan confirmed participation at the international Golden Spike tournament in Ostrava

Tobi Amusan confirmed participation at the international Golden Spike tournament in Ostrava on June 27.

The Nigerian athlete set a world record in the 100m in the semi-finals of the World Championships in Oregon last year, where she clocked 12.12 sec, then won gold in 12.06 sec, but with a stronger headwind than allowed. The record in the Golden Spike event is 12.55 sec by Sharika Nelvis from 2015.

“I’m excited to compete in Ostrava. I’ve seen many world-class athletes compete on the track and I’m looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere there”, shared Tobi Amusan.

The director of the tournament in Ostrava is the world record holder in the javelin throw, Jan Zelezny, and the competitors in the sector will once again be impressive.

Oluwatobiloba Ayomide “Tobi” Amusan is a Nigerian track and field athlete who specializes in the 100m hurdles and also competes as a sprinter. She is the current World, Commonwealth, and African champion in the 100m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in those three competitions. Tobi Amusan became the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event when she won the 2022 World Championships 100m hurdles gold medal. She won back-to-back Commonwealth and African titles in 2018 and 2022 in the 100m hurdles and is also a two-time African Games champion in the event.
