Tobi Amusan believes that she can break under 12 sec in the 100m hurdles

The world’s 100m hurdles champion Tobi Amusan believes that she can break under 12.00 sec in the 100m hurdles. The Nigerian made history at the World Championships in Oregon last year after breaking the world record in the semi-finals, clocking 12.12 sec. The previous world record in the event was 12.20 sec.

In Oregon, Tobi Amusan became the first Nigerian woman with an outdoor world title and a world record.

“I have a lot of faith in the Bible, nothing is impossible. 11 seconds? Definitely”, shared Tobi Amusan.

Today, Tobi Amusan will start at the Golden Spike tournament in Ostrava, while at the end of the week will compete at the Lausanne Diamond League.

Oluwatobiloba Ayomide “Tobi” Amusan is a Nigerian track and field athlete who specialises in the 100m hurdles and also competes as a sprinter. She is the current World, Commonwealth and African champion in the 100m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in those three competitions. She won back-to-back Commonwealth and African titles in 2018 and 2022 in the 100m hurdles and is also a two-time African Games champion in the event. She is also the current Diamond league champion in the 100m hurdles having won the final in 12.29 sec (-0.3m/s) winning back to back titles in 2022 and 2023.
