Ten-time world champion in biathlon, Tiril Eckhoff (Norway), will miss the remaining World Cup rounds at Germany’s Ruhpolding Winter Center to better prepare for the Beijing 2022 Olympics.
The Ruhpolding Biathlon World Cup ends on Sunday, and yesterday Tiril Eckhoff took 19th place in the 7.5 km sprint.
“I want to train in the mountains to better prepare for the Olympics”, said Tiril Eckhoff.
Norwegian Biathlon Association sporting director Per Botnans said she would spend some time in Italy. “Tiril Eckhoff is planned to be in Italy for six days at the same altitude as the Olympic Games. She will then go with the rest of the national team to the World Cup in Antholz (Italy)”, added he.
The 31-year-old Norwegian is the Sochi 2014 Olympic mixed-relay champion and also won a silver and three bronze medals at the Olympics. Tiril Eckhoff has won ten gold medals at the Biathlon World Championships and won the World Cup last season.
The next starts of the World Cup in Italy are from January 20 to 23, and the Winter Olympics in Beijing start on February 4th.
