Tina Sutej, Angelica Moser, and Ewa Swoboda will chase a record at the tournament in Ostrava

Tina Sutej, Angelica Moser and Ewa Swoboda will chase a record at the tournament in Ostrava on January 30. Slovenian athlete Tina Sutej currently holds the meeting record in the pole vault, having claimed first place in her third victory in the Czech Republic earlier this year with a national record of 4.82m. She finished first in Ostrava in both 2020 and 2021.

However, the world indoor bronze medalist will face the Swiss athlete Angelica Moser, who equaled her personal best of 4.75m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in the summer, where she finished fifth. Angelica Moser holds the European indoor title from 2021 and finished fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade in 2022.

The two will be joined in the pole vault sector by the local favorite Amalie Svabikova, who has not missed an appearance in the tournament since 2018. This year she finished second behind Tina Sutej with a national record of 4.72m. She also won a bronze medal at the European Championships in hall in Istanbul.

The women’s 60m meeting record is 7.10 sec from 2016, but Polish athlete Ewa Swoboda, who last year set a personal best of 6.99 sec, will be attacking that mark. The 26-year-old sprinter won the European indoor title in 2019 and also has two continental silvers from 2017 and 2023.
