Three reigning world champions will compete in the Doha Diamond League pole vault

Three reigning world champions in the women’s pole vault will compete in the Doha Diamond League tournament on May 10. Katie Moon (USA), Nina Kennedy (Australia) and Molly Caudery (Great Britain) will compete in Qatar in one of the first tournaments of the circuit of the year.

Katie Moon, who is fifth in the all-time world rankings at 4.95m, shared the world gold in Budapest last year with Commonwealth Games champion Nina Kennedy (a personal best of 4.91m).

“Women’s pole vault has really progressed over the last few years and it’s exciting to be able to compete against such a talented group of athletes. I had a disappointing build-up to the Indoor Worlds due to an achilles injury. Now I’m looking forward to preparing for the outdoor season and returning to Doha, where I opened the season with a win last year”, said Katie Moon, who finished third at the Glasgow World Indoor Championships earlier this month.

Molly Caudery, who finished fifth at last year’s Budapest World Athletics Championships, won indoor world gold in Glasgow. The silver medalist at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games won Britain’s first world title in the indoor pole vault since 2012 in Glasgow, where she cleared 4.80m.

“Last year was literally a dream come true, so to go into the Olympic year as world indoor champion makes me grateful and excited for what’s to come”, said Molly Caudery, 23, who improved her personal best by 26cm last year. “This will be my first race in Doha and I can’t wait for the summer season to start. I am loving absolutely every moment of this trip”, added she.
