Three of the main draw seeds were eliminated in the first round of the WTA 250 Ladies Open Lausanne, Switzerland with a prize fund of $251,750.

The top-seeded Danielle Collins (USA) lost to wild card Simona Waltert (Switzerland) with 1-2 (7:6, 3:6, 6:7) after three hours of play. The American tennis player overcame a break point three times in the third set, and wasted three match points in the tiebreak. Danielle Collins led by 6:3, but lost the next five points in a row, and with it also the match.

The fifth-seed Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (Spain) lost to Petra Martic (Croatia) with 0-2 (2:6, 2:6), and eightth-seeded Varvara Gracheva (Russia) lost to qualifier Eva Lys (Germany) with 0-2 (5:7, 4:6).

The second-seeded and Olympic champion from Tokyo 2020, Belinda Bencic, qualified for the second round after defeating Diane Parry (France) with 2-1 (3:6, 6:3, 6:1).

The third-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu (Romania) eliminated Tamara Korpatsch (Germany) with 2-0 (6:4, 6:2), while the sixth-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) overcame Jasmine Paolini (Italy) with 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).
