Therese Johaug won the 10km classic interval start for the World Cup in Lahti

Norwegian cross-country skiing star Therese Johaug won the 10km classic interval start at the World Cup in Lahti, Finland.

Therese Johaug, who is an Olympic champion in the Beijing Games and a gold medalist at the 2021 World Championships, was fastest in 24:28.4 min. This was her third victory of the season and a total of 80th in a start for the World Cup.

The Norwegian overtook the leader in the general standings Natalia Nepryaeva. The Russian was 1.2 sec behind the winner.

The third place was for the Finnish Krista Parmakoski, who took bronze in the discipline of the Beijing 2022 Olympics, with a lag of 16.5 sec.

Fourth and fifth place went to Beijing 2022 silver medalist Kerttu Niskanen (Finland) with 37.7 sec and Saturday’s women’s sprint winner Jonna Sundling (Sweden) with 40.7 sec.

Natalia Nepryaeva remains the leader in the overall standings for the World Cup in cross-country skiing with 973 points, ahead of Jessie Diggins from the USA with 695 points and Ebba Andersson from Sweden with 688 points. Jessie Diggins and Ebba Andersson finished 20th and 6th in Lahti.

Therese Johaug is 11th in the standings with 475 points. She led in the standings in the distance starts with 475 points. Second is Frida Carlson (Sweden) with 458, and third is Ebba Anderson (Sweden) with 368 points.
