Norway’s Therese Johaug won her second Olympic gold at the Beijing 2022 Games. After the title in skiathlon, today Therese Johaug triumphed in the discipline 10km classic style for women.

The Norwegian was behind Kerttu Niskanen (Finland) in the middle of the track. In the second 5km Therese Johaug accelerated and managed to erase his liabilities.

Therese Johaug covered the distance in 28:06.03 min. A little later, Kerttu Niskanen crossed the finish line, lagging behind the champion by only 0.4 sec.

Finland’s cross-country skier Krista Parmakoski reached the bronze medal after lagging 31.5 sec behind Therese Johaug. The leader in the World Cup Natalia Nepryaeva from the Russian Olympic Committee remained only 4th, after only 0.1 sec separated her from the medals.

For Therese Johaug, this is the third Olympic title, after in Vancouver 2010 she won the gold in the relay.

The 33-year-old Therese Johaug distributed her strength perfectly in the race, but she also showed excellent preparation, pressing in the most important moment.

In fact, Kerttu Niskanen was the only real contender for Therese Johaug, leading 6.8 km with a time of 10.1 sec ahead of Johaug. She remained in the lead at the 8.6th kilometer, but her lead was lost by only 1.3 sec. And in the final meters, the Norwegian overcame this gap and won with a lead of 0.4 sec.

A fierce battle erupted for third place, where Natalia Nepryaeva of the Russian Olympic Committee did her best, but eventually missed the medal by 0.01 seconds. Nepryaeva is also the leader in the World Cup standings this season.

The top 6 were completed by Katharina Hennig (Germany) and Ebba Andersson (Sweden). Ebba Andersson is currently in second place for the World Cup. The best American Jessie Diggins finished in 8th place, and Teresa Stadlober (Austria) – 3rd in skiathlon, remained 9th.

Women’s Cross-Country Skiing 10km:
1. Therese Johaug (Norway) – 28:06.3 min
2. Kerttu Niskanen (Finland) – 28:06.7 min
3. Krista Parmakoski (Finland) – 28:37.8 min
