Thea LaFond topped the planetary rankings in the triple jump for the season

The Dominican triple jumper Thea LaFond topped the planetary rankings for the season. She won a competition in Virginia with an achievement of 14.60m.

Keturah Orji (USA) earned the silver with 13.95m, while Imani Oliver (USA) remained with the bronze after jumping 13.12m. The Top 5 were completed by two more American athletes – Mylana Hearn and Adja Sackor.

Thea LaFond, 29, has fourth place from the 2022 Belgrade Indoor Planetary Forum, as well as the fifth position at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the women’s triple jump; her result of 12.82m in the qualifying round did not qualify her for the final. During the 2018 Commonwealth Games, she created history for becoming the first Dominican athlete to win a medal for Dominica at the Commonwealth Games after securing a bronze medal in the women’s triple jump event.

During the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she improved her result and achieved a Silver Medal in the women’s triple jump event.
