The record attendance for the Women’s FA Cup Final will be broken when Manchester United face Chelsea at Wembley next month after the Football Association announced that more than 65,000 tickets had been sold. The current record stands at 49,094 from last season when Chelsea beat Manchester City by 3-2 after extra time at the same stadium.
Emma Hayes-led blues, who are aiming for a third successive title, face first-time finalists Manchester United on May 14.
Chelsea advanced to the final with a 1-0 win against Aston Villa on Sunday with Samantha Kerr scoring the only goal in the 59th minute.
A day earlier, Manchester United defeated Brighton by 3-2 (0-1) after goals of Leah Galton (47′), Alessia Russo (71′), and Rachel Williams (89′).
The two teams are also fighting for the Women’s Super League title as well, with leaders Manchester United currently a point ahead of second-placed and defending champions Chelsea, who have a game more.
