The USA won three gold medals on the final day of the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The American women won the last discipline of the forum – the relay of 4x400m. Talitha Diggs, Abby Steiner, Britton Wilson and Sydney McLaughlin came through convincingly with a season’s world best of 3:17.79 min.
Silver in the women’s 4x400m relay went to the Jamaicans in 3:20.74 min, with Great Britain’s quartet third in the final in 3:22.64 min.
Talitha Diggs claims her first world medal at just 19-years-old, coming off a season which saw her capture both NCAA titles at 400m, three team titles with Florida and the US Championship over 400m. She finished 10th in the 400m at the World Championships, narrowly missing the final. Talitha Diggs responded by being the only American woman to run in both the Heats and the Finals of the 4x400m relay, earning her first gold medal.
