The USA has qualified for the semifinals of the 2022 women’s volleyball World Cup

Olympic women’s volleyball champion the USA has qualified for the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup in the Netherlands and Poland. Karch Kiraly-led girls defeated the strong team of Turkey with 3-0 (25:22, 25:15, 25:20) in a match of the quarter-finals of the championship

Thus, the USA takes a step forward from the 2018 World Cup, when they finished in 5th place and will play in the semifinals for the 7th time. There, the Americans await the winner of the quarter-final between reigning world champions Serbia and hosts Poland later tonight. The semi-final match will be tomorrow (October 12) in Gliwice.

Turkey, on the other hand, were eliminated from further participation in the tournament but recorded their best ranking since the 2010 World Cup when they finished 6th in the final standings.

Most valuable for the USA was Alexandra Frantti with 18 points (1 block, 2 aces and 58% attack success rate) for the victory. Andrea Drews added 14 more points (3 blocks and 31% shooting percentage) for the win.

For the Turkish team, Ebrar Karakurt scored 16 points (3 blocks and 33% attack success), and Zehra Gunes finished with 11 points.
