The USA achieved its 6th victory at the World Championships against Turkey

The Olympic women’s volleyball champion the USA achieved its 6th victory at the World Championships. The Team USA gave only a game and prevailed over the strong team of Turkey with 3-1 (25:22, 21:25, 25:20, 25:22) in their third match from Group F of the second phase of the 2022 World Cup.

In this way, the two teams exchanged places in the group standings, having 6 wins and 2 losses each, and are sure of the quarter-finals of the championship. The USA is second with 18 points and the Turks are third with 17 points. In all probability, the two teams will keep their positions and thus they will play against each other in the quarter-final as well.

Tomorrow (October 8), in their final games, the USA will play Thailand and Turkey will face reigning world champions and sure-to-be group winners Serbia.

Most useful for the USA were Chiaka Ogbogu (6 blocks!, 2 aces and 70% attack success) and Kelsey Robinson (1 block and 52% attack success) with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

For the Turkey team, Ebrar Karakurt (1 block, 1 ace and 36% attack success rate) and Zehra Gunes (1 ace and 71% attack success rate) each scored 16 points, but that didn’t help them win either.
