The Olympic marathon bronze medalist Molly Seidel misses the US qualifiers due to injury

Olympic bronze medalist Molly Seidel announced she is withdrawing from Saturday’s US marathon qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics because of a knee injury. Molly Seidel, 29, has been suffering from knee pain for about a month.

The American athlete said that she tried all possible options and physical therapies, but she will not be able to participate in the qualification this Saturday.

Four years ago, she finished second in the US qualifiers and made her Olympic debut in the marathon. She finished third at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. The men’s and women’s marathons were then held in Sapporo because of Tokyo’s high temperatures.

Molly Seidel became the third American woman to win an Olympic medal in the marathon.

Molly Seidel is an American long distance runner. Seidel represented the United States at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country in 2012, 2013, and 2018. At the University of Notre Dame, Molly Seidel was a 4-time NCAA champion, 6-time NCAA All-American, 6-time Atlantic Coast Conference champion and 2016 female ACC Athlete of the Year.
