The Netherlands defended its European women’s 4x400m relay title in Rome

The Netherlands defended its European women’s 4x400m relay title at the Continental Forum in Rome. Lieke Klaver, Cathelijn Peeters, Lisanne De Witte and Femke Bol set a European season best of 3:22.39 min.

Ireland, who had already won the 4x400m medley relay title in the Italian capital, could have sprung another surprise, but Femke Bol held on for first place at the last post and the Irish took silver in a new national record of 3:22.71 min. The Irish women’s 4x400m relay team was of Sophie Becker, Rhasidat Adeleke, Phil Healy, Sharlene Mawdsley.

The Belgian women’s relay team of Naomi Van den Broeck, Imke Vervaet, Cynthia Bolingo, and Helena Ponette, earned the bronze honors with 3:22.95 min, and the Italian women (laria Elvira Accame, Giancarla Trevisan, Anna Polinari, Alice Mangione) set a new national record of 3:23.40 min, but remained fourth.

France remained fifth and Poland was sixth in the final standings.
