The “lucky loser” Viktoriya Tomova qualified for the second round of the WTA 1000 Miami Open

Bulgarian tennis player Viktoriya Tomova took advantage as a “lucky loser” to qualify for the main scheme of the WTA 1000 Miami Open with a prize pool of 8.8 million USD. She lost in the last qualifying round lost to Viktorija Golubic (Switzerland), but due to the resignation of the world’s No 48 Lauren Davis, was included in the main scheme of the tournament.

Viktoriya Tomova recorded 3 aces and won 75% of her 1st serve points.

In the second round of the WTA 1000 Miami Open, Viktoriya Tomova will play against 30th-seeded Danielle Collins (USA).

In the other match from the first day of the WTA 1000 Miami Open, Laura Siegemund (Germany) defeated Mayar Sherif (Egypt) by 2-0 (6:3, 64), while Tereza Martincova (Czech Republic) won by 2-1 (4:6, 6:4, 6:3) her match with Tamara Korpatsch (Germany).

Romanian tennis player Irina-Camelia Begu also advanced to the second round after a victory versus Alexandra Eala (Philippines) by 2-0 (6:2, 7:5). Danka Kovinic lost to Nao Hibino (Japan) by 0-2 (3:6, 3:6), as well as Brenda Fruhvirtova (Czech Republic), who lost to Xiyu Wang (China) by0-2 (0:6, 5:7).

Anna Kalinskaya qualified for the next round of the WTA 1000 Miami Open after defeating Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (Andora) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2).
