The first Diamond Trophy for 2022 went to Kenyan athlete Beatrice Chebet

The 5,000m silver medalist at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene 2022 and Birmingham Commonwealth Games champion Beatrice Chebet won the first diamond trophy of 2022. The 22-year-old Kenyan athlete won the 5,000m on the specially laid tartan surface outside the stadium with a time of 14:31.03 min.

Her compatriot Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi took second place with 14:31.11 min, while 2022 world champion and Olympic bronze medalist Gudaf Tsegay (Ethiopia) finished third with 14:32.11 min.

The Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion Sifan Hassan, who has not competed in many races this year after a busy past season, struggled to finish fifth in 14:37.05 min.
