European Athletics has announced the list of the ten nominated for Athlete No 1 in Europe for 2022. Every athletics fan can vote on the European Athletics Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages until September 30.
Here are the contenders for the award:
Femke Bol (Netherlands) – European champion in 400m, 400m hurdles and 4x400m, World silver medalist in 400m and 4x400m, World indoor silver medalist in 400m and 4x400m, winner of Diamond Trophy 2022.
Keely Hodgkinson (Great Britain) – European 800m champion, world silver medalist in 800m
Mujinga Kambundji (Switzerland) – world indoors champion at 60m, European champion at 200m, second at 100m at the European Championships in Munich.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine) – World Indoor High Jump Champion, European Champion, 2nd at the World Outdoor Championships, Diamond Trophy winner, No 1 in the world for the season at 2.05m
Malaika Mihambo (Germany) – European long jump champion, second at the World Outdoor Championships
Laura Muir (Great Britain) – European champion at 1500m, world bronze medalist
Antigoni Drisbioti (Greece) – European champion in 20km sports walking, European champion in 35km sports walking
Sandra Perkovic (Croatia) – European discus throw champion, world silver medalist
Nafissatou Thiam (Belgium) – world and European heptathlon champion, leader in the world rankings for the season with 6948 points
Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta (Serbia) – World Indoor Long Jump Champion, European Champion, Diamond Trophy Winner
