The Bulgarian women’s national volleyball team lost to Poland at the Volleyball League of Nations

Bulgarian women’s national volleyball team lost to Poland by 1-3 (28:26, 19:25, 16:25, 15:25) in a Group 5 match of the Volleyball League of Nations tournament in Suwon (Republic of Korea).

After its second defeat in a row, Bulgaria remains in 14th place in the standings with 2 wins, 9 losses and a total of 8 points. Poland is the leader in the standings with 9 successes from 11 matches played and a total of 26 points.

The Bulgarian women’s national volleyball team will rest on Saturday, and on Sunday will face the team of Serbia.

Poland faces outsiders Korea Republic tomorrow in their final match of the tournament in Suwon.

In the match between Bulgaria and Poland, the most classy team was the Polish. The Poles quickly took a 4:0 lead at the start of the match. Magdalena Stysiak attacks in the out for 13:8, while Maria Yordanova’s ace, which is her 17th in the Volleyball League of Nations, made the result 13:10. Another single block by Borislava Saykova against an attack by Magdalena Stysiak made the result 14:12. Thus, the successful play of Bulgarian volleyball players equalized the score to 18:18. Stefano Lavarini took a break for Poland, but this did not changed much the development of the result, which reached 24:24. Maria Yordanova attacked powerfully from zone 4 and Bulgaria won the first game by 28:26.

However, the second game was in total dominance for Poland, which took an advance from the mid of the game and closed it at 25:19.

The third game was also running equal after Magdalena Stysiak attacks in the out and 12:13. However, Olivia Rozanski completed the longest play of the game and Poland took the lead with 17:13. Blockade stopped the Maria Yordanova’s attack – 13:18. Polish girls reached a game ball at 24:15 and Julia Nowicka brought success to Poland in the third game with 25:16.

In the fourth game, The Poles took a lead by 5:1. Lorenzo Micelli took a break for Bulgaria at 5:11. Maria Yordanova successfully attacks diagonally from zone 4 reduced the result to 6:11 and Radostina Marinova’s ace made it even 7:11. However, the Polish players improved their play and Monika Galkovska’s ace made 24:15. Poland managed to win the fourth game with 25:15 and the match with 3-1

The top scorer for Bulgaria was Radostina Marinova with 19 points (1 ace, 1 block). Maria Yordanova finished with 12 points (2 aces) and Elena Becheva scored 10 points (2 aces, 1 block).

Magdalena Stysiak scored 19 points (5 blocks) for Poland. Olivia Rozanski added 16 more points (1 ace, 2 blocks).
